Laurie Robertson, global director of Business Development, Marketing and Communications at Baker & McKenzie LLP, speaks with LEI Chairman Ralph Baxter about cross-border marketing and business development issues.

Laurie Robertson was born in Yorkshire, took his degree in Law at Oxford University then went travelling. This led him to a 20 year career with international advertising agency J Walter Thompson, working for them in North America, Japan and back in London, lastly as global account director for Unilever. Another career turn brought him to Clifford Chance where he spent ten years turning his consumer goods strategic, client management and marketing experience to the benefit of the Magic Circle firm and leaving as Global Head of BD. For the last two years, Laurie has been based in New York City but travelling constantly as Global Director of BD & Marketing of the world's largest and most passionately global law firm, Baker & McKenzie.
