Jessa is responsible for leadership and oversight of all business affairs, operations and strategic design at Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen, a micro-boutique law firm based in Chicago. Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen is the “go-to” firm in the country for affordable housing and community development projects involving housing, schools, healthcare facilities, community centers, business incubators, industrial facilities and more, both at the local and national levels. The firm has particular expertise in federal low-income housing tax credits, federal historic tax credits, new market tax credits, energy credits and state tax credits and represents a diverse range of clients, from community-based developers and public housing authorities to Fortune 100 corporations and banking institutions.
Jessa’s areas of responsibility include long-range planning, growth and development, finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, business development, risk management, compensation, succession planning and oversight of the administrative team. She focuses on enhancing revenue, improving profitability, cross-functional accountability and process improvement initiatives.
Prior to joining Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen in 2015 Jessa advised law firms and their leaders in the United States, Caribbean and Latin America on strategy development, mergers, governance, talent structure design, associate and partner compensation systems, partnership issues and financial matters as a consultant with LawVision and Hildebrandt Baker Robbins.
Jessa holds a BS in Human and Organizational Development from Vanderbilt University, a JD from University of Wisconsin and an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
